Patriots bring back OL Trent Brown in trade with Las Vegas Raiders, per reports

Trent Brown is returning to the organization where he became one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL.

The Las Vegas Raiders traded traded the tackle to the New England Patriots on Tuesday, according to multiple reports. The teams swapped future draft picks, per NFL Network, with the Raiders receiving a 2022 fifth-round pick in exchange for Brown and a 2022 seventh-rounder.

As part of the deal, according to reports, Brown agreed to a reworked contract that will pay him $11 million in 2021 and make him a free agent next year, one season earlier than planned through the original contract.

A seventh-round draft pick, Brown played the first three seasons of his career with the San Francisco 49ers before landing in New England prior to the 2018 season. There, the University of Florida product started every game at left tackle as the Patriots won the Super Bowl.

Brown was rewarded with a four-year, $66 million deal by the Raiders that offseason and made the Pro Bowl in 2019. But last season, Brown played in five games after being on the COVID-19 list for six games — an IV mishap led to him spending time in the hospital — and was inactive for five additional games at points during the year.
