Orlando Franklin leaving 104.3 The Fan to join 49ers coaching staff – The Denver Post

Orlando Franklin is leaving the Denver sports radio scene for a coaching gig.

The former Broncos offensive tackle and co-host of “Orlando and Sandy” on Monday announced he is leaving 104.3 The Fan after two years to join 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan’s staff.

“While it’s bittersweet leaving my radio show here on The Fan,” he said, “the chance to continue learning from Coach Shanahan working closely with my father-in-law (49ers running back coach) Bobby Turner was one I just couldn’t pass up.”

Franklin, 33, was one of San Francisco’s three Bill Walsh NFL Diversity Coaching Fellows during training camp where he worked with the team’s offensive linemen.

Prior to joining The Fan, Franklin was a standout guard and tackle at the University of Miami. He was drafted by the Broncos in the second round (46th overall pick) of the 2011 NFL draft. He played in Denver for four seasons and later had stints with the Chargers, Saints and Washington.

Franklin’s last show will be on Tuesday.
