NBC’s Cris Collinsworth praises Aaron Rodgers for being ‘honest about everything’ in 2021
Broadcasters have a lot of time to fill during NFL games, and it often leads to some bizarre comments. Cris Collinsworth provided viewers of “Sunday Night Football” with the latest.
On the NBC broadcast, Collinsworth was praising Rodgers, saying that he has been honest in 2021 and said that he “doesn’t care” about the criticism.
“Have you seen a guy, and in particular this year, be more honest about everything,” Collinsworth said. “You may not agree with everything he says, but we have heard from the beginning of this entire season exactly what he thinks about everything.”
Rodgers has come under fire in 2021 for the exact opposite reason for which Collinsworth has praised him. Earlier in the year, Rodgers said that he had been “immunized” against COVID-19, only for it later to come out that he had not been vaccinated.
He acknowledged later that some might have felt his comments “were misleading” and said that “to anybody who felt misled by those comments, I take full responsibility for those comments.”
Rodgers then defended his stance against taking the COVID-19 vaccine by voicing a number of debunked theories about the vaccine on “The Pat McAfee Show,” thrusting him into the center of a polarizing topic on the national stage.
This is not the first time — nor will it likely be the last — that Rodgers’ drama has been referenced by a broadcaster. Earlier this season during a “Thursday Night Football” broadcast, Joe Buck poked fun at Rodgers’ COVID toe, which is a swollen toe as a result of contracting the coronavirus.
