Miami Heat star pokes fun at Aaron Rodgers after NBA Play-Off win
Brundle mistakes basketball star for NFL player in Miami GP gaffe
Aaron Rodgers’ start to life in New York didn’t get off to the best of starts after watching the Knicks fall to a Game One NBA Play-Off semi-final defeat to the Miami Heat. The 39-year-old completed a blockbuster trade to the Jets last week, leaving the Green Bay Packers after nearly two decades of service.
One day after a trip to Madison Square Garden to watch the New York Ragers, the four-time NFL MVP decided was back at MSG alongside fellow Jets new-boy Allen Lazard, who he also played with in Green Bay. The pair sat courtside as the New York Knicks fell to a 108-101 defeat to the Heat and one of Miami’s stars, Kevin Love, has playfully poked fun at Rodgers.
Love ended the game with nine points, five rebounds and four assists in 16 minutes. “I told Aaron Rodgers, ‘I’ve got the best QBR in New York City,’” the 34-year-old said after the game.
“He hasn’t played a game yet here, but I saw him sitting over there. We’re friendly, so I went and said hello. I saw him sitting there, so, might as well throw something at him.”
Whether Rodgers returns to the Garden on Wednesday hoping to see the Knicks exact revenge is yet to be seen. But if he does choose to show up, he may not have to watch one of the Heat’s stars, Jimmy Butler, who finished the game with an injury.
Butler was injured in the fourth quarter, but as he went to shoot, the clash with Josh Hart resulted in the Knicks man kicking Butler’s ankle.
