Matthew Stafford will be appearing at his first-ever Super Bowl this weekend, after a stunning debut campaign with the Los Angeles Rams. He’s usually accompanied by his wife, Kelly, at his matches, ever since they met at college.

Matthew re-invigorated his NFL career last summer when he moved to the LA Rams.

He had previously been the Detroit Lions’ QB for 12 years.

During that period, the Lions only made the playoffs in three years.

But, they failed to win any of those post-season matches – even during the 2011 season when they won 10 regular season matches.

But, since the high-profile trade to the Rams, Stafford has gone from strength to strength.

The QB posted his joint-best pass completion rate this year, as well as his best team win record.

Matthew can always rely on his wife, Kelly, to support him throughout his matches.

However, in April 2019, Kelly revealed to her numerous Instagram followers that she had been diagnosed with a brain tumour.

Kelly developed unexplained vertigo whenever she would go about her daily activities.

She subsequently had a 12-hour surgery, and remained in hospital for a week.

It took months of recovery, and Kelly needed help doing simple tasks, including brushing her teeth.

Matthew also took time off from his Lions training camp to help with Kelly’s recovery.

Back in April 2021, Kelly posted an amazing message on her Instagram.

She wrote: “Two years ago, waking up after a 12 hour surgery, tumour free,” accompanied by a picture of her in hospital.

“Today celebrating the clean 2 year scan and all the new adventures my family and I are going to have in this next year!”

Kelly’s strength was praised by her fans, with several messages of support.

Sandra Russell wrote: “God bless you and your beautiful family.”

Nabila Lourenco said: “I’m so happy for you mama,” while Instagram user @lilcountryboy2000 wrote: “You are an absolutely amazing woman!!”

Matthew and Kelly married in 2015, and now have four daughters; Hunter, Chandler, Sawyer, and Tyler.

Kelly frequently attends Matthew’s matches, and was even seen widely celebrating the Rams victory against the San Francisco 49ers in the Conference game last month.
