Is Broncos Country ready to dump Russell Wilson for Brett Rypien?

Let ‘er Ryp: I think starting Brett Rypien at quarterback is good for the Broncos. Not so much because of his win in 2020 against one of the worst Jet teams ever, but because the Broncos need a shake up.

Graham, Jets fan

Kiz: When a Jets fan thinks Denver is more dangerous team with DangeRuss on the bench, it’s damning evidence Russell Wilson’s reputation has taken a bigger hit than any part of his aching body. What if Rypien beats the Jets? Will Broncos Country clamor to keep Wilson on the bench?

Russ refund: Hey, Kiz. Do you think Wilson will do the right thing and give the money back on his $245 million contract extension? He certainly hasn’t earned it. He doesn’t even look like a starting quarterback; more like a coming-off-the-bench guy named Case Keenum.

Steve, demanding a refund

Kiz: Wouldn’t hold your breath on that refund, my friend. Should Wilson prove to be a $245 million bust, general manager George Paton will need to update his resume.

No more Nate: One and done for Broncos coach Nathaniel Hackett? How about one half season and done! Says here he doesn’t make it to the end of the season. Lose to the Jets and that might be enough. Lose to Jacksonville in London as well, and it’s and bye-bye to Nathanial “I can’t Hack it!”

Greg, Boulder

Kiz: If Hackett can find a way to score 20 points against the Jets, then do it again versus the Jaguars. the beleaguered coach will be 4-4 and in the thick of the race for a wild-card playoff berth as the Broncos head into their bye week. Is that too much to ask?

Say goodbye: The Broncos should part ways with running back Melvin Gordon and send receiver Jerry Jeudy with him. I don’t think I’ll ever be able to remove that image of those two (beefing) and moaning on the sideline during the loss to the Chargers from my memory.

Mike, Parker

Kiz: I think somebody needs to get traded in acknowledgment a losing culture in the Denver locker room needs to change. Gordon? Jeudy? Tight end Albert Okwuegbunam? Take your pick. Somebody has to go.

Penny: The Broncos team is nearly as infuriating as the Denver Post paywall.

Brian, raconteur

Kiz: A piping hot latte at Starbucks will set you back five bucks. I deliver delicious hot takes for a fraction of the cost.

Price is right: Some of us begrudgingly actually pay real money to read guys like Kiszla and support local journalism and newspapers. It’s the right thing to do, even if it is Kiz. He-he! Keep on keeping on!

Steve, Denver

Kiz: May I buy you a $5 latte to show you my appreciation?

Til death do us part: And today’s parting shot takes issue with my advice that frustrated fans in Broncos Country might want to consider a divorce from a heart-breaking team.

Hey, what’s the deal with you saying fans should go with another team, Kiz? Broncos fans are critical and demanding, but at the end of the day, the Broncos are our team. If they aren’t your team, then feel free to get a divorce, and go chase the Kansas City Chiefs or something. Who needs you?
