Fantasy Kicker Rankings Week 16: Who to start, sit at kicker in fantasy football
If you’re still alive in your fantasy football playoffs, then deciding who to start at kicker matters way more than it should to you. If you’re the type that overthinks such decisions, we’re here to pile more on your plate with our Week 16 fantasy kicker rankings.
Here’s some good news: There are seven indoor games this week (Colts-Cardinals, Lions-Falcons, Rams-Vikings, Chargers-Texans, Broncos-Raiders, Washington-Cowboys, and Dolphins-Saints). If you want to make your life a little easier and not have to worry about reading weather reports all weekend, then just grab a guy on one of these teams. Brandon McManus (@ Raiders), Younghoe Koo (vs. Lions), Brett Maher (vs. Dolphins), and Brian Johnson (@ Cowboys) have great matchups and are owned in fewer than 50 percent of leagues, so those are your best sleepers. Matt Gay (@ Vikings) is the best combination of production, matchup, and safety, but you can never go wrong with Daniel Carlson (vs. Broncos), Greg Zuerlein (vs. Washington), or Dustin Hopkins (@ Texans).
WEEK 16 PPR RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST
Matt Prater (vs. Colts) is a tough one because he’s normally reliable, but he’s facing the toughest defense against fantasy kickers. That doesn’t worry us too much because we know any kicker — especially one on a good offense — can produce in any game — but we just wanted to make you aware.
WEEK 16 STANDARD RANKINGS:
Quarterback | Running back | Wide receiver | Tight end | D/ST
If you like to play the matchups, then get to know these widely available options with favorable opponents: Jake Elliott (vs. Giants), Jason Myers (vs. Bears), Eddy Pineiro (vs. Jaguars), and Jason Sanders (@ Saints). Elliott is the only one who’s consistently produced this season, so as long as the weather is decent in Jersey, Elliott is a solid play.
Ultimately, matchups only matter so much for kickers, so don’t go overboard. If your kicker has been working for you, then you might as well roll with them. Of course, all of the COVID issues can affect kickers even if they’re active. If an offense is significantly weakened because it’s down to its third-string QB or without multiple weapons, then it’s reasonable to expect fewer scoring chances. You have a lot more important lineup issues to worry about, but don’t make this position a complete afterthought.
Note: We’ll update these kicker rankings as needed throughout the week, so check back for the latest player movement.
