Ex-Chiefs coach Britt Reid charged with felony DWI
Britt Reid, former Chiefs coach and son of head coach Andy Reid, has been charged with felony DWI in the aftermath of his Feb. 4 crash.
Jackson County, Mo., prosecutors say that Reid “operated a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, and acted with criminal negligence by driving at an excessive rate of speed,” per ESPN.
If convicted, Reid could face up to seven years in prison.
On Feb. 4, Reid struck a stalled vehicle along the side of the road near the Chiefs’ facility. The car crash left 5-year-old Ariel Young in a coma and injured another child. Young would later awaken, but the family attorney says she will live with a permanent brain injury.
Reid admitted to drinking to law enforcement on the scene, but no charges were filed at the the time of the incident.
Reid’s contract, which expired after Super Bowl 55, would not be renewed.
