Danny Amendola lays into Patriots, Bill Belichick; says Tom Brady is the ‘Patriot way’
Danny Amendola has picked a side in the Brady vs. Belichick debate.
Much has been made about Tom Brady vs. Bill Belichick this season, the first time the two parties have been apart since before the 2001 NFL season. The Patriots scuffled and finished third in the AFC East at 7-9 this year, while TB12 is gearing up for his 10th Super Bowl appearance on a loaded Tampa Bay team vs. the Chiefs this Sunday.
While fans debate which party deserves the crux of the credit for New England’s dominance, former Pats wide receiver Danny Amendola believes Brady deserves a lot more respect for their dynastic success than Belichick and the New England coaches.

“Well, first things first, when you see ‘Patriot way’ in the dictionary, it’s gonna have Tom Brady’s name next to it,” Amendola said on “First Things First.” “None of those coaches threw any passes, none of those coaches caught any passes, none of those coaches made any tackles. They got guys in the right position ’cause they watched a lot of film and they spent all their time at the facility.
“But Tom Brady is the ‘Patriot way.’ That’s the reason why Tom Brady’s in the Super Bowl right now, and the Patriots aren’t.”
Amendola’s proposal is a bit on the aggressive side, and certainly with a hint of disdain over what exactly “Patriot way” is (side note: no one knows what that means).
The wide receiver spent five seasons with the Patriots between 2013 and 2017, winning two championships as part of those New England squads, catching 10 regular season touchdowns from Brady during those years.
While Belichick and the Pats are staying at home wondering what’s next for New England, Touchdown Tommy will have a chance at a seventh ring. You be the judge.
