Ashley Solis becomes first woman to publicly accuse Deshaun Watson of sexual assault, harassment
Ashley Solis is the first woman to publicly accuse Deshaun Watson of sexual assault and harassment.
Speaking at a news conference alongside attorney Tony Buzbee, Solis, a massage therapist, said that her decision to speak publicly was to “take back the power and take back control.”
“I am a survivor of assault and harassment,” Solis said. “Deshaun Watson is my assaulter and harrasser. Deshaun Watson assaulted and harrassed me on March 30, 2020, in my own home, doing what I love most — massage therapy.”
I can no longer practice the profession that I love the most without shaking during the session. My hands shake whenever I place them on a client and have to cut the session short. If only he knew how heartbreaking that is to me. I got into massage therapy to heal people — to heal their minds and bodies. To bring peace to their souls. Deshaun Watson has robbed me of that. He took that away from me, he tainted a profession in which I take enormous pride. Flashes of Watson’s face rush to me in the moment. I think of his penis touching me, which sends me into a tailspin. I suffer from panic attacks, anxiety and depression. I am in counseling as a result of Deshaun Watson’s actions. I hope he knows how much pain he’s inflicted on me emotionally and physically. I hope he knows how much pain he’s inflicted on these other survivors.
Watson has been accused of sexual assault and harassment in various degrees since mid-March, with 22 women involved in various civil cases against him, all alleging some form of sexual assault or harassment. All women are represented by Buzbee.
Buzbee said that Solis delivered a statement to Houston police.
The Houston Police Department has opened an investigation after a complaint was filed against Watson on April 5. The NFL is investigating Watson under its personal conduct policy.
“People say that I’m doing this just for money,” Solis said. “That is false. I come forward now so that Deshaun Watson does not assault another woman.”
