It doesn’t happen often, but even Aaron Rodgers has a bad game.
Beyond that, though, it’s not just bad games that are exceedingly rare for Rodgers — interceptions are even more so.

And yet, the reigning NFL MVP had two on Sunday in the Packers’ 38-3 loss to New Orleans in Jacksonville, the first of which he had an interesting explanation for on “The Pat McAfee Show.”

In the video, Rodgers outlines the special set of circumstances that led to the interception in pretty graphic and candid detail.
“I step up in the pocket and I was gonna throw across my body to Devante [Adams] on a shallow cross and right before I’m throwing it, I take a left clothesline and a right cross and it led to a double nut shot,” Rodgers said. “That was a painful one.”
Rodgers also didn’t mince words about how he and his team performed, though he did praise his offensive line.
The game was Rodgers’ first with two interceptions since October of last year and his first season opener with two interceptions since 2010, when Rodgers won his first and only Super Bowl.
In the nearly half-hour appearance on McAfee’s show, Rodgers also said he got numerous texts reminding him that the last time a team lost 38-3 to New Orleans, it went on to win the Super Bowl.
Maybe it was all part of a plan to get the Packers another Lombardi Trophy, or maybe it was just an uncharacteristicly poor performance from Rodgers.
Either way, he made it clear: His focus is on his team’s upcoming matchup on “Monday Night Football.”
