WNBA Finals 2021: Thrilling Mercury-Sky Game 2 decided in overtime, gets Twitter buzzing

Clutch shot after clutch shot down the stretch in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals between the Phoenix Mercury and Chicago Sky made for must-see basketball.

When it seemed like the Mercury had capped off their comeback, Sky guard Courtney Vandersloot banked in a clutch layup that forced overtime. In the extra period, however, the Mercury ensured they took care of things the second time around.

Their starting guard Skylar Diggins-Smith had the eventual game-winner.

The 91-86 victory for the Mercury helps them tie up the series 1-1.

Brittney Griner dominated, tying her playoff career-high with a game-high 29 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field. Diana Taurasi, recently crowned the WNBA’s GOAT, scored 18 of her 20 points in the second half, while Diggins-Smith, on top of the game-winner, recorded a near triple-double with 13 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds.

The back-and-forth action had Twitter buzzing, grabbing the eyeballs of WNBA and NBA players – past and present.
