Vladimir Putin "dedicates" at least two hours to playing sport every day

Vladimir Putin once revealed he spends two to two-and-a-half hours a day dedicated to playing sports.

Putin has seen a lot of his honorary sporting stripped since he ordered an invasion of Ukraine at the end of February.

Ahead of his visit to China in 2018, Putin told the China Media Group: "I dedicate about two to two and a half hours to sports every day."

Putin added he works out, swims, and then has a judo session, should a sparring partner turn up.

"I also play hockey though not so often as I would like. It would be an exaggeration to say that I actually 'play', but I do try hard."

Putin is a black belt at Judo, and he held a position in the International Judo Federation (IJF).

However, that position was stripped from him on Sunday.

A statement read: "The International Judo Federation announces that Mr. Vladimir Putin and Mr. Arkady Rotenberg have been removed from all positions held in the International Judo Federation.

Putin was also stripped of his honorary Taekwondo black belt.

In the same interview, Putin also revealed his three favourite footballers.

Alongside the usual suspects of Pele and Diego Maradona, Putin named Russian shot-stopper Lev Yashin – who is the only goalkeeper to win the Ballon d'Or.

Interestingly, Yashin spent the entirety of his footballing career at Dynamo Moscow.

Putin, however, is believed to be a fan of Dynamo's rivals, Zenit St.Petersburg.
