Team GB swimmer Sarah Vasey has seen her medal hopes slammed by former GB Olympian Mark Foster. Mr Foster was asked to comment on Vasey’s chances of a podium finish in Tokyo on the BBC after a solid performance from the 24-year-old in Sunday’s heats. He said that despite a top 16 qualification, Vasey had little chance of picking up an Olympic medal for Team GB unless she has what he called “an out-of-body experience.”
Vasey made clinched a place in the semi-final with an eleventh place finish in the women’s 100m breaststroke.
Mr Foster told the BBC that the swimmer’s performance had been “good” compared with reason form.
But the former Olympian went on to say: “Do I think she has a shout at a medal?
“I would say no, unless she has an out-of-body experience.”
