Former World's Strongest Man Thor Bjornsson was shown size doesn't always matter after grappling with a jiu-jitsu star.

Bjornsson, known as The Mountain, stands at a staggering 6ft 9 and hit the scales at 23 stone when he took to the ring for a boxing match with Eddie Hall earlier this year.

But he had no answer to Gordon Ryan, as the pair took to the mats before admitting he "got humbled quite badly" – although his opponent is a world champion competitor in his own field.

The ex-Game of Thrones star posted a clip of the grappling session on Instagram with Ryan, who appeared tiny next to him despite his 6ft 2 height.

"Literally went against the best and got humbled quite badly," Bjornsson wrote.

"I love trying out new sport and what a pleasure it was. Excited to watch Gordon crush his opponent. This guy is next level!"

Ryan, who defeated Nicky Rodriguez in his last fight, is nicknamed The King in the ju-jitsu world, and remained full of praise for Bjornsson.

He responded to the post: "This was such a blast. Can't wait to attempt to lift your warm up weight one day."

Bjornsson, 34, is one of the best strongmen athletes of all time and won the European and World titles in the same year back in 2018.

He announced his retirement in 2020 but moved into boxing for a short stint, famously facing off against rival Eddie Hall in Dubai earlier this year.

The bout titled 'The Mountain vs The Beast' was won by Thor by unanimous decision after he twice floored his opponents and left him with some nasty cuts above both eyes.

He was later linked with Tyson Fury and admitted there were talks over a fight against the world heavyweight champion, but decided not to pursue a career inside the ring.

"I've made a decision to move on from boxing, to not compete in boxing again, to say goodbye to boxing and just not fight again," the Icelandic giant said.

"I had a good run, I did it for two-and-a-half years. It was nice to do so, because when I first started I had a lot of people not believing in me."
