Tennis star ‘smashes himself in balls’ with racquet five times & doesn’t flinch
Tennis star Andrey Rublev was seen repeatedly 'smashing himself in the balls’ with his tennis racquet without even flinching during his French Open clash on Wednesday. Rublev was taking on Marin Čilić in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros, and clearly let his anger get the better of him.
Of course we’ve seen tennis players taking their frustrations out on the racquet before, whether that be crashing into the court or even an umpire chair on the odd occasion. Rublev though decided to take his stresses out on himself.
Clearly left frustrated mid-match, the 24-year-old took his racquet and crashed it repeatedly into crotch area. Remarkably though, the raging Russian did not flinch once, and went on to carry on unnerved.
One eagle-eyed fan – @SaifSmacks – who initially spotted his outburst took to Twitter to write: “Did Rublev just whack himself in the balls with his racket 5 times?” Following this a clip of Rublev’s anger suffered on social media, with a number of tennis fans seeing the funny side at the Russian star’s expense.
Replying to the clip, another tennis fan in @ultimatesugg comically responded: “Someone should really explain to Rublev those are not the balls you're supposed to hit in tennis.” Rublev would end up frustrated for good reason, as he saw his French Open journey come to and following an epic defeat to Čilić.

The Russian star got his quarter-final off to the perfect start by taking the first set 7-5, but a battling performance from his Croatian opponent saw him eventually come out on top 5-7, 6-3, 6-4, 6-3, 7-6. The quarter-final clash was no doubt a match for the ages, with both players more than playing their part.
After the match, the winning man Čilić took time to pay tribute to his opponent, describing him as an ‘incredible guy and player’. He told Eurosport: “Today was a tough day at the office, and playing against Andrey is a tough thing to do… I am incredibly proud of this performance and the fight.
“I have to put a hand down to Andrey, on a few occasions he showed great sportsmanship. In this kind of a match every single point counts. It was bad luck one of us had to go down, but he just shows that he is an incredible guy and incredible player.”
