Tennis fans fume at ‘shambles’ BT Sport coverage as sound and picture disappear
Tennis fans have fumed at the "shambles" BT Sport coverage of the United Cup as both the sound and picture disappeared.
Viewers experienced numerous technical issues during the broadcast, with the sound appearing to be broken from the start before the picture then cut out completely. BT Sport had only secured the rights to show Great Britain's clash with Australia at the inaugural United Cup on the eve of the tournament getting underway.
Regardless, tennis fans were quick to take to social media to share their anger at the poor quality of the broadcast as they were forced to sit through repeated issues.

One viewer tweeted: “Picture gone too. What a shambles from BT. God I wish Amazon were broadcasting tennis forever.” Another added: “Wow BT Sport is bad for tennis.”
Others also complained about the tournament not being available to watch on free-to-air television, with one commenting: “Not watching (the) United Cup because I don’t have BT Sport and I refuse to resubscribe to Tennis TV for the 105th time.”
In addition to the BT Sport coverage of the competition, fans could also watch a live stream of the day one action on YouTube.

The United Cup is a new mixed-gender team tournament, played across three venues in the Australian cities of Brisbane, Perth and Sydney. Beginning on Thursday, the outdoor hard court event is set to run through until the final on January 8 and features 18 nations.
Amongst those competing is a Great Britain team captained by Tim Henman and including Cameron Norrie, Harriet Dart and Dan Evans.
The likes of Raphael Nadal and Alexander Zverev are also taking part, but Australia's own Nick Kyrgios withdrew from the event before play got underway.
BT's coverage began on Thursday morning as Norrie faced Alex de Minaur of Australia in Team GB's opening match. Spain are also in the same three-team group.
