Shane Warne’s son Jackson "proud" of dad despite "frustrating" relationship

Shane Warne's son Jackson said "proud" of his dad despite their complex relationship shortly before his death.

Warne, 52, passed away on Friday after suffering a 'massive heart attack', after four friends attempted to revive the Australian cricket legend for 20 minutes.

There was an outpouring of tributes for Warne – who is widely recognised as one of the greatest cricket players to ever play the game.

Jackson Warne, 23, has yet to speak about the death of his dad, alongside his siblings Summer and Brooke.

But a recent interview from the 23-year-old points to the fact that he will be forever proud of his dad.

“I want him (Shane) to be really proud of me,” Jackson told producers of SAS Australia last summer.

“It’s been pretty frustrating my whole life.

"Whenever I walk into a room or meet someone it’s always, ‘Oh that’s Shane Warne’s son Jackson’. It’s never, ‘it’s Jackson’.

"I just want to be Jackson."

Jackson also told Men's Health: “I only see Dad as Dad. I can’t compare him to other parents.

“I can always remember just smiling. So, I think he did a great job. And I’m proud of him.”

He continued: “I’m in a shadow, but the shadow is really nice.

"The shadow is quite warm. And you can have a lot of fun in the shadow. I’m very happy. I’m okay."
