Richest sports team owners in the world with £300billion combined net worth

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich and Arsenal chief Stan Kroenke are both among the top 20 richest sports team owners in the world.

The two Premier League owners are dwarfed by Mukesh Ambani, who tops the list, being owner of IPL side Mumbai Indians.

Abramovich’s net worth, according to Forbes, is £10.5billion compared to Ambani who has amassed a huge £61.3billion.

Shahid Khan is the only other football boss on the list with the Jacksonville Jaguars owner also in charge of Fulham.

American owners dominate with LA Clippers chief Steve Ballmer in second, while Daniel Gilbert of the Cleveland Cavaliers is third.

Abramovich comes in joint-eighth with Kroenke, who also has the LA Rams and Denver Nuggets among his collection, is ranked 14th.

Abramovich has overseen plenty of success at Stamford Bridge and recently said: “The ambitions are as true now as they were when I first became owner and I hope that can be seen through the work we have been doing on and off the pitch over the last 17 years.

“I think the trophies speak for themselves and show what we as a club have been able to achieve over these years, and it’s my goal for us to keep winning trophies going forward and build for the future.

“Chelsea has a very rich history, and I feel extremely fortunate to play a part in that.

“The club was here before me, and will be here after me, but my job is to ensure we are as successful as we can be today, as well as build for the future. That’s why the success of our academy at Cobham [the club's 140-acre training facility] is so important to me.”
