Real Madrid’s wild basketball brawl sees one player channel ‘inner Brock Lesnar’

Real Madrid’s shocking basketball brawl in a match against Partizan Belgrade saw one player channel his inner Brock Lesnar.

Los Blancos met the Serbian outfit in their second quarter-final leg in the EuroLeague on Thursday. But with Belgrade on course for a dominant victory and under two minutes of the fourth quarter remaining, both sets of players came to blows.

Wild scenes unfolded when Sergio Llull fouled Partizan’s Kevin Punter. The American-Serbian reacted by instantly squaring up to his opponent.

That sparked both teams to rush towards the action, with various players on each side tangling with one another and the match descending into chaos.

As Punter became surrounded by white shirts and appeared to throw punches, Real Madrid big man Guerschon Yabusele saw red.

The former Boston Celtics star took the brawl to a whole other level as he grabbed Dante Exum from behind and body slammed him to the ground.

Yabusele resembled WWE legend Brock Lesnar both in technique and ferocity. And fans all rushed to say the same thing on social media after the Frenchman’s brutal finisher, which saw him restrained by multiple people.

One Twitter user wrote: “Yabusele has been possessed by the spirit of Brock Lesnar."

Another commented: "Yabusele stealing the Suplex from Brock Lesnar." And a third joked: “What's Brock Lesnar doing in basketball #Suplex,” while a fourth added: “Yabusele is Brock Lesnar.”

Yabusele was immediately escorted back to the locker room while the game was forfeited with the score at 95-80 in Partizan’s favour, due to the referees having to eject almost the entirety of the two squads.

Real and Partizan have both been fined €50,000 (£44,000) for "unsportsmanlike conduct" that prevented "the normal conclusion of the game".

Yabusele has been hit with a five-game ban, with Punter being suspended for two and Gabriel Deck one.
