Nasser Hussain apologises to Sky Sports viewers after Aussie star drops F-bomb
Sky Sports commentator Nasser Hussain apologised to viewers after some fruity Australian language was broadcast during the first Ashes Test.
Having been bowled out in their first innings for 386 – seven behind England – the Aussies secured two key breakthroughs amid gloomy conditions at Edgbaston. Ben Duckett was removed by a stunning Cameron Green catch off the bowling of Pat Cummins before Zak Crawley edged Scott Boland behind.
With the weather closing in, the tourists were desperate to remove first innings centurion Joe Root, who was wrapped on the pads by Boland, triggering a huge appeal.
The Aussies then congregated to discuss whether to review after the umpire had signalled not out. Most players seemed keen to send it upstairs until spinner Nathan Lyon piped in, appearing to say: “It’s missing by a f****** way.” The obscenity was clearly picked up by the stump mic.

Captain Cummins eventually agreed and it proved to be a wise decision with a replay showing the ball was missing Root's off-stump. A few moments later Hussain apologised for the language, saying: “Apologises if you heard any swearing, emotions running high out there.”
It proved to be a brief but crucial passage of play as, a few minutes later, the players were taken off as the heavens opened, with England on 28/2, a lead of 35.
Earlier in the day, England fought back with the ball after Australia resumed on 311/5, 82 behind. Ben Stokes’ side took the last five wickets for 75, with Ollie Robinson claiming three of them as he roused himself from a wicketless second day performance.
He clean bowled centurion Usman Khawaja (141) and bounced out Lyon and Cummins to finish with three for 55, with James Anderson and Stuart Broad picking up one wicket apiece.
