Horror moment car is flipped into air before bursting into flames in NASCAR race
NASCAR driver Myatt Snider was left grateful for his life after his car careered into the air before catching on fire.
Snider, 27, competes for Jordan Anderson Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and on the final lap of the latest race in Daytona he made contact with rivals Anthony Alfredo and Jade Buford.
It caused the American motorsport driver to lose control of his car, before sickeningly colliding with the trackside wall, which threw the vehicle up the air – ejecting the engine in the process.
The vehicle was also dissected into three different body parts as Snider landed back down on the track in a ball of flames.
The searing speed that Snider was travelling meant he kept on going as spectators watched on in horror, before finally coming to a halt as medics and officials fled towards the scene.
It took some frenzied work with fire extinguishers to quell the flames, before Snider was rescued from his Chevrolet Camaro and dragged away to safety.
And in an apparent miracle, the son of NASCAR on NBC pit reporter Marty Snider emerged relatively unscathed, and after being seen to at Daytona's medical centre, was later released.
He was however, extremely relieved following his dice with death.
"It was violent, saw sparks kind of going everywhere. You don't really know what's going on," he told relieved reporters.

"You just kind of know you're going some direction, and it's not the right one. I was just kind of holding on, kind of hunched over, keeping everything together as much as I could.
"I can't profess enough how glad I am that I'm all good."
The incident came just seconds before the 120-lap race was due to finish, and organisers NASCAR had no intention of restarting any racing as Snider's car lay decimated at the side of the track.
They culled the action there and then made the race positions at the time of the crash final.
That meant Chevrolet driver Austin Hill was declared the winner, with AJ Allmendinger in second.
A third Chevrolet driver, Noah Gragson, was third,
It's Allmendinger who now leads the standings on 51 points, with Hill second on 47.
Snider is in 24th on just 15 points, but will simply be grateful to be able to fight another day after his Daytona horror.
