Golfer dump-tackled naked streaker at The Open – and then missed his next putt
Peter Jacobsen received a huge applause from the crowd after taking matters into his own hands by tackling a streaker at The Open.
Jacobsen, now 69, was playing alongside Tom Kite at the 1985 tournament and preparing to putt on the final round when he was rudely interrupted – and the police failed in their quest to restore order.
The American, who had finished third at the PGA Championship two years previously, then grew concerned that the boots of the law enforcement would damage the green as eventual champion Sandy Lyle played in the following group at Royal St. George's.
Jacobsen said: "He ran right at me and I said to Kite: 'I’m going to tackle this guy'.

"He went: 'No, you’re not'. And boom, I tackled him. I got the biggest ovation for anyone making a bogey on the last hole in Open championship history."
That bogey came after Jacobsen stepped up with a simple putt but gave it too much as the crowd groaned on behalf of their new hero as he finished tied in 11th.
Jacobsen, who won the PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year in 2003, ranked as high as 15 the world in 1996, but is best known by some foe the celebratory dance he did after the dump tackle.

Jacobsen leapt with his hands in the air – but that turned to disappointment when he noticed marks in the turf.
"The guy put a mark right in my line, there were two big depressions and I failed to get it up and down," Jacobsen added.
"I’m a wimpy guy making a tackle on a naked man, I guess that's kind of embarrassing."

The streaking incident was by no means the first or the last, with Nicola Moffat stripping down to reveal her painted body in 1997.
Channeling her inner tigress, Nicola ran across the course wearing only knickers and a pair of heels to the shock of the golf fanbase.
Speaking later to the media, Moffat revealed she performed the stunt for her boyfriend.
