French Open star Alexander Zverev in "bulls***" rant before losing thriller

French Open star Alexander Zverev let off a furious “b*******” rant before losing a thrilling semi-final to Stefanos Tsitsipas.

The German got himself back into the Roland Garros clash with the fifth-ranked tennis player having lost the first two sets.

But he lost the last set for a 3-6 3-6 6-4 6-4 3-6, missing out on the opportunity to make it two finals reached out of three Grand Slams in the last year.

It seems Zverev was not himself, though, as the sixth-seed was overheard in a furious rant at umpire Renaud Lichtenstein following an overturned call during a crunch moment in the game.

With the 24-year-old 5-3 up in the third set and drawing 15-15 against serve, Tsitsipas provided a deep serve which the line judge deemed to have been out as the German sliced a return into the net.

But the man in the middle inspected the mark on the clay and over-ruled the decision to give the Greek player the point.

And this left Zverev furious, arguing that the line call had come before he hit a return and would have made more effort on the strike if it had been in.

Who do you think will win the French Open – Novak Djokovic or Stephanos Tsitsipas? Let us know in the comments section.

The 24-year-old was heard yelling to the umpire: “You cannot tell me the call came before the shot.

“I hit it in the middle of the racquet. It was a frame shot winner. I hit a squash shot.

“I could have hit a normal shot. You're telling me I had no chance of putting that ball into the court?

“That's b*******!”

After a lengthy argument, Zverev eventually returned to the baseline where Tsitsipas served out the game before the German clinched the set on his own serve.

The Greek’s win at the Court Philippe Chatrier means the 22-year-old is through the first Grand Slam final of his career.

And he will face world No.1 Novak Djokovic, who beat 13-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal in his own thrilling semi-final later on Friday.
