Fans turn on Emma Raducanu after Instagram post shows what she is ‘all about’

Tennis fans are beginning to lose patience with Emma Raducanu after she uploaded a series of promotional posts to her social media pages.

The 20-year-old has struggled for fitness and form since her shock victory at the US Open two years ago and fans think her penchant for advertising might have something to do with it.

In a week where she pulled out of the Madrid Open, stonewalled reporters with a 58-word press conference and dropped to World No. 85, the Canada-born Brit treated her 2.5million Instagram followers to commercials for British Airways, Vodafone and Porsche, sparking something of a backlash.

"Is this really Emma Raducanu’s Instagram? More like an advertisement account," one follower wrote, while another said: "Never ending advertising but not much tennis being played."

A third added: "Emma is all about adverts. Not tennis. I don't know how she can ever be in fighting form," while a fourth joked: "Of course another ad lmao, if you like money so much you just have to open an OnlyFans."

It's understood Raducanu has a net worth of more than £10m and that figure is expected to increase tenfold thanks to the array of sponsorships deals she's accrued since her victory at Flushing Meadows with the likes of Nike, Dior, HSBC and Evian, among others.

Sum up Emma Raducanu in three words for us in the comments section below.

In 2022, she failed to progress past the second round in each of the four majors and was knocked out at the same stage of the Australian Open earlier this year, with fans and pundits alike growing concerned she's wasting her talent.

She appeared thoroughly fed-up as she monosyllabically rifled her way through a series of questions at a recent press conference – almost as hastily and laxly as she's been rifling through coaches recently (five in the last 18 months).

Fans are growing weary of her behaviour, her temperament and her on-court form, and if she has any hope of becoming the player she looked destined to be a couple of years ago, the message from her followers is clear: Less cashing, more smashing.
