Ex-UFC star Paige VanZant sparks brawl with savage attack on return to AEW
Former UFC star Paige VanZant had to be held back after launching a surprise attack on Brandi Rhodes during her return to All Elite Wrestling on Wednesday evening.
The 27-year-old stormed from behind the scenes and into the ring after Rhodes had slapped American Top Team Leader Dan Lambert.
After sprinting down the ramp and going through the ropes, VanZant picked up her rival before pinning her in the corner as several AEW stars came to join the action from the dressing room.
The crowd were then able to separate the feuding pair on opposite sides of the canvas, with VanZant continuing to shout at her latest foe before being led out of the arena.
VanZant, who competed at flyweight and strawweight during her time working with Dana White, has taken to wresting in recent months as well as running her own fan site.
After making her UFC debut back in 2014, she took on the likes of Rose Namajunas and Rachael Ostovich before losing to Amanda Ribas and leaving the promotion,
Having also signed up to fight with bare-knuckle outfit BKFC, VanZant lost to both Britain Hart and Ostovich by unanimous decision in a disappointing 2021.

Away from sport, Van Zant launched Ostovich exclusive content website PaigeFanZant.com despite inital doubts.
She told MMAFighting: "There was always this back and forth.
"There’s two sides of it. I didn’t want to put myself in a position where I would lose business opportunities based on having an exclusive content site, but I feel like I’m already seen as a sex symbol in the sports world. I might as well have the monetization behind it.
"I wanted to do it on my own terms. So, I actually joined Fan Time, it’s a separate company. I’m not with OnlyFans.
"It’s PaigeFanZant.com and it’s my own website and I have a lot of control over what goes on there. It’s basically me doing exclusive things. I’m proud to say I’m part of it."
It costs $9.99 a month to access the former UFC star’s website, which provides fans with exclusive content as well as a chance to message and interact with VanZant.
