Alexander Volkanovski has urged UFC boss Dana White to give him a title defence in his native Australia, after beat Chan Sung Jung – the ‘Korean Zombie’ – at UFC 273 to keep hold of his featherweight strap for a third time.
The explosive Volkanovski put on a show to stop his opponent with a fourth-round stoppage in Jacksonville, Florida in the early hours of today, having pieced together lightning fast jabs with takedowns to take control of the contest.
He was able to send Jung crashing to the floor with a big right-hand blow in the final seconds of the third round, and built on his dominance with a couple of fearsome punches, which saw referee Herb Dean halt the showdown.

Fresh from his win, the champion questioned why the UFC can’t hold events in his homeland
The 33-year-old, who holds an overall record of 24-1 in MMA, has won 21 straight fights and suffered his only defeat to date in May 2013.
His UFC record, meanwhile, stands at an impressive 11-0.
He hasn’t fought in his homeland since February 2018, with his past seven bouts taking place abroad, although White has expressed doubts over holding a promotion in Australia later this year as a result of their Covid-19 situation.
‘The place is still locked down. I can’t risk trying to bring a show over there, get there and have it shut down,’ he said.

White, however, was left impressed by the performance of Volkanosvki – who also took home organisation and fan bonuses.
He said: ‘He couldn’t look better than he looked tonight. He looked incredible.’
The champion was unsurprisingly bullish after his latest triumph, insisting: ‘All week I said I’m on another level right now. I can’t be stopped and I just showed youse.’
