Tyson Fury makes prediction for Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 3
Tyson Fury has backed Conor McGregor to avenge his defeat by Dustin Poirier on Saturday night in Las Vegas.
The Gypsy King is in Sin City preparing for a trilogy fight of his own against Deontay Wilder for the world heavyweight boxing title, and has been training at the UFC Performance Institute.
And in a video captured by the UFC's social media team, Fury said that he expects McGregor to win what will be a 'must-watch' fight this weekend.
"My prediction for the McGregor-Poirier fight is that I think McGregor will win this time," Fury said. "He's been training hard and he's got it all to prove.
"It's going to be a great event and one to watch, so tune in!"
In an interview with former UFC champion Michael Bisping on BT Sport last month, Fury said that he believes that McGregor's career could be over soon if he loses.
"It's Conor McGregor's final roll of the dice," Fury said. "If he loses this one it's curtains isn't it, I think he wins this one and I think he wins it in style, to be fair.
"With Conor, you never know what he's been doing. You never know what he's been up to in training camps and all that.
"From what I hear, he lives like a rock star when he's like a week away from his fight, so you can't do that.
"When I'm in a training camp I'm 100 per cent dedicated to the fight, I don't do anything, I go to bed early, wake up early, don't drink anything but water, I'm 100 per cent dedicated to the job in hand.
"If I'm going out getting smashed in the nights before a fight, then I'm asking to lose."
Both Fury and McGregor could be set for huge title bouts if they earn trilogy wins in Las Vegas this month.
The Irishman is expected to face newly-crowned champion Charles Oliveira if he can get through Poirier at UFC 264, likely later this year.
And Tyson Fury will set up one of the biggest heavyweight title fights in recent memory against unified champion Anthony Joshua should he beat Wilder once again.
Both fights take place at the T-Mobile Arena, and will feature capacity crowds as the state of Nevada, and most in the US, begin to open up following the coronavirus pandemic.
Fury is a heavy favourite to stop Wilder after his dominant victory in their last meeting, as well as his strong performance in their initial 2018 bout.
But bookmakers are struggling to split McGregor and Poirier, with the American a slight favourite over his Irish rival given their 1-1 record against each other.
McGregor stopped Poirier within less than two minutes in their first fight at UFC 178, but the Louisiana native got his revenge with a second round knockout in the rematch at UFC 257 earlier this year.
