Musician Drake won a $1.7m payout after betting on Jones to get a submission victory
The controversial American had not fought for more than three years since vacating his title at light-heavyweight to bulk up and have a crack at the division above.
But there were no signs of rust as he secured the first takedown he attempted, dragging Gane to the ground and making the Frenchman – who has had an immensely impressive young career – look amateurish.
There had been many questions surrounding Jones and what shape he’d show up in – but he instantly proved doubters wrong.
Drake’s betting win on Jones comes after he lost a big money bet on Jake Paul to defeat Tommy Fury one week prior.
On that occasion he lost £335,000 after Paul lost via unanimous decision.
