Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier has responded to footage of Dana White slapping his wife on New Year’s Eve.
In a row caught on camera between the UFC president and his wife of 26 years Anne, Dana can be seen saying something to the mother of his three children who responds by slapping him, prompting White to slap her back before the pair are split up.
In an interview with Bloody Elbow, Poirier was asked how he believed the UFC chief will be able to bounce back from the damning footage.

‘I’m not sure. I have no clue.’ Poirier said.
‘You should never put your hands on a woman. I don’t know the repercussions that come along with somebody of his stature, running these businesses and doing something like that. I have no clue. It’s not a good look for sure.’
The ensuing outrage surrounding the footage led to American broadcaster TBS delaying the launch of the UFC president’s Power Slap League which had been set to debut on January 11.
White has apologized for the incident and said that there was ‘no excuse’ for his actions
Asked whether he considered White’s newest business venture a sport, Poirier simply replied ‘no’ before adding:’It’s more of a toughman competition type thing, you know. And I’m just not educated on the techniques of slapping somebody, so.
After the footage of the New Year’s Eve altercation was released White told TMZ that he was ‘no excuse’ for his actions.
‘My wife and I were out Saturday night on New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately that is what happened.
White has been married to his partner Anne for 26 years and the pair have three children
‘I am one of the guys who says there is never, ever an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman and now here I am on TMZ talking about it.
‘This is one of those situations that is horrible. I am embarrassed. We have three kids and since the video popped up, we have shown the kids and we are more focused on our family right now.
‘People are going to have their opinions on this and people’s opinions would be right, especially in my case. You don’t put your hands on a woman, ever.’
