MMA fighter snaps his leg while landing KO kick to opponent’s head
Amateur fighter Dylan Kiskila suffered a broken leg while landing a leg kick to knockout his opponent in a Captains Fight Club match-up.
Kiskila was taking on Kai Duque in an amateur MMA bout when the incident happened, which has now gone viral on social media.
The contest was Kiskila's debut under the promotion Captains Fight Club, which ended in horrific circumstances shortly afterwards.
The American landed a picture perfect kick on his opponent Duque to knock him out but upon landing the blow he suffered a broken leg with the limb collapsing underneath him.
Quickly after realising the leg had broken, Kiskila remained calm and gestured to his corner that he had sustained a serious injury.
Despite claiming his first victory in the MMA with the opening round stoppage, his career could now be significantly on hold as he faces up to a year out of action.
It remains inconclusive if the leg damage occurred upon the contact of the kick or in the motion afterwards.
According to MMA Fighting, Kiskila suffered the same injury as Conor McGregor did during his UFC 264 defeat to Dustin Poirier earlier in the year.
And McGregor is still far from making his full comeback to the UFC cage, being out of action since July with his return not expected to take place until spring next year.
Kiskila will now face a huge comeback of his own if he is ever to make it in the professional ranks, but will be delighted to have kept his record undefeated with a victory despite the incident.
McGregor is facing a redemption mission under professional promotion UFC where he has slid down to ninth position in the lightweight rankings.

And he has been called out by the likes of Michael Chandler, Max Holloway and Rafael Dos Anjos on his return to the cage.
But Chael Sonnen has warned the Irishman that he may struggle to return to the same level after his brutal injury woes in Las Vegas last time out.
"Conor cannot be expected to return better than he left," Sonnen said on his YouTube channel. "That would defy every rule of basic logic that a human being has.
"You don't get better at something by not doing it. You don't get better at something by not practicing. You get better at something being forced on the sidelines because you have an injury.
"So if we try to put Conor right back in there in a very meaningful fight against any of the top guys, we're asking for too much and we're going to make Conor a victim of his own success. Exactly what happened to Ronda Rousey. "
