Michael Chandler calls out Conor McGregor AGAIN for UFC mega-fight

Michael Chandler calls out Conor McGregor AGAIN and claims the pair would put on the ‘biggest fight in MMA’ right now with the UFC lightweight predicting ‘fireworks’ if they ever share the octagon

  • Michael Chandler has again talked up prospect of a fight with Conor McGregor
  • After defeating Tony Ferguson at UFC 274, Chandler clearly called McGregor out
  • Now, in a new interview, Chandler wants to land a ‘huge fight’ with McGregor

Michael Chandler wants Conor McGregor to help him make the ‘biggest fight’ possible right now in MMA.

Chandler wasted no time in calling MMA superstar McGregor out in the moments after his win over Tony Ferguson at UFC 274.

McGregor, who is currently partying in Ibiza, has not fought since July 2021 when he broke his leg in a trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier.

Options are starting to dwindle for Chandler with Charles Oliveira and Islam Makhachev locked in for a title fight at UFC 280 in October.

Alexander Volkanovski is seen as likely to fight the winner of that contest.

That leaves Chandler chasing a mega-fight and they don’t come any bigger than the sport’s biggest star – McGregor.

‘If Conor’s coming back anytime soon, I think me and Conor would make some fireworks and it’s a fight that fans want to see,’ Chandler told TMZ.

‘I think it’s the biggest fight we can make in mixed martial arts right now and I try to say that as humble as possible but I think it’s a huge fight.’

After the call-out at UFC 274, McGregor was receptive to the idea of fighting Chandler in what is a now-deleted tweet.

‘I’d have a nice knock off this guy, no doubt about it. A firework spectacle,’ McGregor wrote.

‘I like the 170 shout also. Tipped him over. I’m definitely game to fight this guy at some stage in my career. I see it happening after tonight. Congrats on a solid win Michael and another barnstormer.’

Chandler is well aware that the likely scenario means that McGregor won’t fight again until the start of 2023 given the serious nature of the lower leg break.

‘The guy snapped his leg. It wasn’t a small injury, it required surgery, maybe multiple surgeries, a titanium rod going in, and all that stuff,’ Chandler added to TMZ.

‘I’m not gonna throw stones at the guy. I mean the guy completely shattered his leg and it was literally just a year ago. Have people come back quicker than he’s gonna come back? Yes, probably, but also we don’t know the extent of Conor’s injury.’
