Conor McGregor took to social media after Jose Aldo issued an x-rated response to his challenge of a rematch inside the squared circle.
Since retiring from MMA following a loss to Merab Dvalishvili last year, Aldo has returned to his first love and embarked on a career in professional boxing.
After a decision win over Emmanuel Zambrano in his debut in February, Aldo returned to the ring to take on former UFC opponent Jeremy Stephens inside the boxing ring as part of Jorge Masvidal’s Gamebred Boxing 4.
In response to the event, McGregor tweeted: ‘Me and Aldo should box’, prompting Masvidal to reply offering to ‘make it happen’.
Aldo would ultimately fight to a draw with Stephens on Saturday, with the former UFC Featherweight Champion embarking on an x-rated tirade towards the Irishman during the post-fight press conference.

McGregor famously defeated Aldo in just 13 seconds in the main event of UFC 194 in 2015
‘Conor (has a) big mouth,’ Aldo told reporters in response to McGregor’s tweet. ‘He always talks a lot of s***. He has a scheduled fight. … Conor, shut your f****** mouth. We were supposed to fight before in the UFC. You run, and now you still talk s***.’
Aldo has long contended that McGregor avoided a rematch of their 2015 clash at UFC 194, where McGregor defeated the Brazilian in just 13 seconds to secure his first undisputed title with the promotion.
A rematch had been on the cards the following year, but McGregor ultimately opted to move up in weight, splitting a pair of bouts with Nate Diaz before defeating Eddie Alvarez to capture the lightweight crown and become the UFC’s first-ever simultaneous two-weight world champion.
