Former UFC star performed sex act for £130 to kickstart MMA career

Former UFC fighter Yoshinori Horie has revealed he once performed a sex act on a man in order to raise money to fund his MMA career.

Horie, 26, claimed he was "deceived" by a friend five years ago into participating for a fee of £130 – which at the time was the equivalent of two days of work in his part-time job.

The Japanese star, whose sole venture with Dana White's company came in July 2019 when he lost to Hakeem Dawodu at UFC 240, took to Twitter on Boxing Day to tell his 14,300 followers about the ordeal.

"Five years ago, when I was with a friend, I was told that I could get money [by performing a sex act] in Shibuya," he said.

"I was told to hide my face with a solid mosaic and it was explained that it wasn't like that, but I was deceived in various ways lol I didn't have the money and I really wanted to do martial arts on my own!"

In a separate post, Horie explained that while what happened was "painful" to reflect on, the money he earned helped him get started in MMA.

"I got 20,000 yen [£130] in less than an hour, but it was pretty big! I was able to face martial arts in a short time, exceeding the amount of 2 days of part-time work that I do for 8 hours while standing!

"It's pretty painful now, but as long as I'm alive I can chase my dreams!"

Horie, nicknamed 'The Rising Star', also explained he wasn't homosexual and accepted the money to boost his prospects of fighting.

The post was met with a sympathetic response from fans, with @ayase_mikuru replying with: "I think it's painful, but thank you for writing clearly.

"Horie who is martial arts is cool and I love it. I will continue to support you."

@dokaguii added: "Forget it and concentrate on your practice," while @masaru__31 urged: "People don't mind, but please do your best without worrying about them!"

Horie has since become a successful fighter with a respectable 12-3 professional record. Currently competing for the RIZIN promotion, he is on a three-fight winning streak with his most recent bout seeing him take a unanimous decision against Hirotaka Nakada in November.
