Fans divided over Jake Paul’s kicking technique as he begins MMA training
Fight fans have weighed in on a video of Jake Paul training leg kicks as he prepares for an eventual fight in MMA.
YouTube star Paul is still new to boxing but has taken the sport by storm after winning four professional fights in less than a year.
He topped off an excellent 2021 campaign with a brutal knockout of late replacement Tyron Woodley in their rematch after Love Island star Tommy Fury withdrew from the fight.
Paul posted a short video of himself practising his kicks with the caption: "First day training kicks. Doubted every step of the way… but kick down the doors of the doubters."
And fans have since been divided by the video with some urging Paul to stay in boxing.
"Lmao noooo stay at boxing bruh," one user said.
Another wrote: "You’d get knocked out with a left hook or straight right dropping them hands like that"
A third added: "Bro you’re lined up to eat a right hand coming straight down the chamber kicking like that.
"Stay in boxing dude lots of money for you there and you won’t get your wig spilt open and choked unconscious"
A report from MMA Mania states Paul is in talks with the Professional Fighters League promotion to make his MMA debut later this year.
He also tagged Bellator and PFL in the tweet, leaving out the UFC after president Dana White admitted he would "never" work with the YouTube star.
Paul has urged White to let fighters such as Jorge Masvidal crossover to boxing, also scathing the UFC supremo for "underpaying" his athletes.
But despite some fans giving him a hard time, some were also impressed with Paul's technique for a newcomer.
"Actually pretty nice technique good job jake," one wrote.
"To be honest, Jake would probably do decent in MMA," another added.

" Jake Paul might actually be good at UFC too! Interesting," a third user said.
Paul said he will work with former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at the American Kickboxing Academy in California to prepare for his MMA debut.
Despite reports he will fight in MMA this year, Paul has previously said he will step in the cage after going 10-0 in boxing.
"I don't see why if I can do boxing at this high of a level that I couldn't do MMA at this high of a level," Paul said last month.
"I'm gonna go get coached up by Jav Mendez, Team Khabib. That's that. They're down — 100 percent. I've gotta go 10-0, 12-0 in boxing first and then I'll hit that MMA fight."
