Elon Musk has been pictured hitting the practice mats with a popular Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt ahead of what could be a bizarre blockbuster bout against Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
Despite some pushback from the public, Musk has commenced training for his MMA cage-fight contest with fellow billionaire media mogul Zuckerberg, taking part in a training session with black-belt podcaster Lex Fridman.
Fridman, who has also trained with Zuckerberg, said he was ‘extremely impressed’ with Musk’s ability – but he would prefer if the pair didn’t end up trading blows.
‘I did an impromptu training session with @elonmusk for a few hours yesterday. I’m extremely impressed with his strength, power, and skill, on the feet and on the ground,’ Fridman posted alongside photos of the pair grappling.
‘It was epic. It’s really inspiring to see Elon and Mark doing martial arts, but I think the world is served far better if they train martial arts but not fight in the cage.’

‘That said, as Elon says, the most entertaining outcome is the most likely… I’m there for them, no matter what.’
Meanwhile, Musk has received a sensational offer from UFC legend Georges St-Pierre to help him prepare for the blockbuster bout.
‘Elon Musk I’m a huge fan of yours and it would be an absolute honor to help you and be your training partner for the challenge against Zuckerberg,’ GSP tweeted on Saturday.
Three days later, Musk decided to take him up on the offer.
‘Ok, let’s do it,’ he replied alongside several fire emojis.
It’s an offer Musk would have been a fool to turn down – St Pierre is a former welterweight and middleweight UFC champion, and regarded by many to be one of the greatest MMA fighters to enter the octagon.
UFC boss Dana White has jumped straight on the bandwagon and believes it could be the most lucrative fight of all time, even though there are no firm plans around when and where it could be held.

UFC boss Dana White says the bout between the billionaire media moguls could be the most lucrative fight of all time
‘Talked with Mark and Elon… both guys are absolutely dead serious about this,’ White said to TMZ last week, before claiming it could be the most-watched fight in history.
‘The biggest fight of all time was Floyd (Mayweather) and Conor (McGregor), I just think it triples that,’ he said. ‘It triples what that did, there’s no limit on what that thing can make.’
White suggested the fight could happen in Las Vegas and that pay-per-view would come in at $100 – which is $20 more than what is usually charged for UFC events.
Musk offered up the match last week by commenting on a post about Zuckerberg’s newest suspected project, which will reportedly be called Threads and will rival Twitter.
Zuckerberg, 39, replied on his Instagram story, sharing a screenshot of Musk’s challenge, writing: ‘Send me location.’
Musk has trained in Kyokushin karate, taekwondo, judo and ‘Brazilian jiu-jitsu briefly’ throughout his life, he revealed on Joe Rogan’s podcast, and he has also shared a photo of himself fighting a sumo wrestler in the past.
Speaking of Rogan, Musk even raised the possibility of the controversial podcast host refereeing their bout, replying with flame emojis on Twitter.
Musk, however, might not find the match to be as easy as he thinks as his Meta CEO rival trains in both MMA and Brazilian jiu jitsu.
