Daniel Cormier vows to 'TORTURE' Jake Paul after row at UFC 261

Daniel Cormier vows to ‘TORTURE’ Jake Paul for ‘disrespecting’ his legacy after their confrontation at UFC 261 as the MMA icon insists he would come out of retirement to fight the YouTube star in the cage

  • Daniel Cormier and Jake Paul were involved in a furious row cageside at UFC 261
  • Retired MMA star Cormier claims the YouTuber ‘disrespected’ him in Florida
  • He vowed to ‘torture’ and ‘hurt’ him and wants to take him on in the Octagon

Daniel Cormier has laid into Jake Paul after their row at UFC 261 – promising to ‘hurt’ and ‘torture’ the YouTube star if they ever get in the cage together.

Tensions flared between the two before Kamaru Usman’s clash against Jorge Masvidal this weekend, and they had to be separated as Cormier threatened to ‘slap’ him during an angry exchange.

Cormier – who retired from MMA after his defeat to Stipe Miocic last summer – believes Paul showed ‘disrespect’ towards his legacy for ‘heckling’ him at the event in Jacksonville, Florida, and vowed to teach him a lesson, admitting he wanted to ‘grab him and smash him’.

Daniel Cormier has sent a warning to Jake Paul, vowing to ‘torture’ him if they ever fought

The pair clashed at UFC 261, with Cormier telling the YouTuber to talk less or he would slap him

He challenged Paul to a fight in mixed martial arts but warned he would punish the 24-year-old, even ‘at 42 years old and with a bad back’.

‘I don’t want to fight anyone,’ he said, speaking to ESPN. ‘But I’m not going to let Jake Paul disrespect me.

‘I wanted to grab him by the face and smash him into the ground but you can’t do that at work, I would have gotten into a lot of trouble.

‘This is not going to be fun. At 42 years old and with a bad back, I’m going to torture him. I’m going to hurt him. I don’t want to box him, I don’t want to fight in a limited skill set of rules; if you really want to fight me, fight me in a mixed martial arts competition.’

Cormier insists Paul disrespected him by heckling him and now wants to ‘hurt’ him in the cage

The UFC icon said he would drop to 205lb to face Paul and would beat him ‘with a bad back’

Cormier said he would not allow Paul to tarnish his reputation and did not need a pay day from facing him – saying he would drop down to 205lb just to ‘slap this kid’.

‘My name will not be used as a springboard,’ he said. ‘I love my legacy and I will protect my legacy and if protecting my legacy means I’ve got to slap this kid upside his head, that’s what I’ll do.

‘I’ll fight him at 205lb. I’m fat, I’m happy but I’ll go all the way down to 205lb to fight him in mixed martial arts.’

Cormier, who has previously said he would ‘kill’ Paul if they ever fought, revealed how he told Paul ‘don’t play with me’ at UFC, telling him he would ‘slap that s*** out of him’.

Jake Paul’s stock is high after beating Ben Askren and he has called out a number of fighters

Paul’s stock is high after defeating former UFC star Ben Askren – a fight which is said to have generated 1.5million PPV buys – to extend his record to 3-0.

But UFC chief Dana White remains unimpressed, saying his recent success was ‘f***ing mind boggling’ and stressing he had no interest in working with him.

‘This is the right guy with the right shtick at the right time,’ he told Yahoo Sports, as reported by BJPENN.

‘This guy is playing this thing perfectly. And boxing is in such a bad place, they’re doing a really good job at sucking in people to buy into this thing. And good for him.’

He previously said he would bet $1million on Askren to beat Paul – only for the online celebrity to produce a devastating first round knockout. Paul responded by posting on social media: ‘What should I buy with @danawhite’s $1m?’ before attaching an image of a Porsche Spyder.
