Conor McGregor shows off injured shin suffered during Dustin Poirier defeat
Conor McGregor has taken to Instagram to show the extent of the damage caused to his shins by Dustin Poirier.
The Notorious was knocked out in the second round of his rematch with Poirier last month, with the American particularly targeting McGregor's legs.
The Irishman required the use of a crutch in the immediate aftermath of the fight, and told reporters: "My leg is completely dead, and even though I felt like I was checking them [Poirier's leg kicks], it was just sinking into the muscle at the front of my leg.
"My leg was compromised, and I didn't adjust and that's it. Fair play to Dustin."
After two weeks of recovery, McGregor took to Instagram on Thursday to share pictures of his heavily swollen shin.
And he included a shout out to the sports spray he has been using to help aid his recovery.
Speaking about the fight, he said: "It was the first time I did not use/nor need the stool between rounds also. I did need the stool after tho that’s for sure.
"As well as to this day loads and loads of @tidlsport recovery spray.
"This stuff is truly magic by the way! All the swelling, bruising, and pain on my leg has literally vanished using it!
"Try this stuff if you are in pain or banged up. Doesn’t work? I’ll personally refund you. THIS STUFF IS MAGIC!
"I am extremely happy I did not need to use the stool between rounds here anyway. Another first for me! I am most certainly on the right path. Despite the loss I am on the correct path of evolution."
It is not yet clear when McGregor will next return to the Octagon, but it is believed he and Poirier are in talks over a trilogy fight.
Poirier has indicated he is willing to face McGregor again, tweeting: "You know we are going to do it a third time."
