Conor McGregor disputes claim 50 Cent threw better baseball first pitch
Conor McGregor has bashed comparisons of his wayward first pitch earlier this week to rapper 50 Cent's in 2014.
McGregor was invited to attend a Chicago Cubs game on Tuesday and threw the first pitch on Wrigley Field.
It didn't go as planned, with the ball almost making its way into the stands.
Fans were quick to mock McGregor's throw and compare it to 50 Cent's dreadful first pitch at a New York Mets game in 2014.
The UFC star – who is currently recovering from a broken tibia he suffered in July – caught on to the comparisons and issued a lengthy Instagram statement about his pitch.
He wrote: "The audacity to compare mine with this p***! Picture to picture alone buries this.
"Mine, bar the accuracy, was the most powerful and fastest first pitch of any of these other athletes/artist over the years. No comparison.
"Smoke them up and down that Forbes I do. Get Messi over. Smoked. Cris. Smoked. Federer. Doubled. All time Most Power! Put me in the Wrigley hall of fame for that rocket launch.
"Beside some of that nice red brick. Mahogany Oak Frame. Wimbledon lines in the grass. The great Wrigley Field reminds me of the grounds on my land in Ireland. Impeccable."
McGregor claimed the number one spot on Forbes' highest-paid athlete list this year, beating the likes of his Man Utd superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and tennis icon Roger Federer.
The majority of his revenue came from the £106 million ($150 million) sale of his whiskey brand Proper 12 to Proximo Spirits.

He continued: "Anyway back to the pitch.. Venom. Composure. Balance! The gold bar of Patek almost came flying off me it was that fast and powerful. I’d take it back to Patek Philippe for adjusting but this watch is now discontinued. A rare.
"I Bought for 80k in Weirs jeweler of Ireland and today it is worth close to 500k. And going up. Fifty has a nice hublot too. Big Bang. Small bucks 50cent. One has power. One is the director of media relations for some show called power."
McGregor was set to face a year away from the cage after his leg break at UFC 264, but the Irishman could return by the end of this year due to his recovery being ahead of schedule.
Discussing his rehab last week, McGregor said: “I feel good now I’m back on the feet. I honestly feel like I can kick right now but I’ve got to listen to the doctors. I’ve just got to listen to the people who are guiding me.
“Still a long way to go, I don’t want to get too ahead of myself. Like I said, I could kick right now but I’m not advised to kick yet but I’m going to get back man. Do you think a broken leg is going to stop me? Think again.”
