Conor McGregor awarded lowly ranking as fans vote for favourite UFC fighters
Conor McGregor did not place in the top 15 as UFC fans voted for their favourite Octagon stars.
McGregor, 32, is undoubtedly the biggest draw in the history of mixed martial arts, but he has been relatively inactive in recent years.
The Irishman has only fought three times since becoming a two-division champion in November 2016, losing to Khabib Nurmagomedov, bouncing back to beat Donald Cerrone and falling short against Dustin Poirier earlier this year.
McGregor is due to face Poirier in a trilogy fight in July, but his American lightweight rival was actually ranked much higher than him in a vote by hundreds of fans.
According to the polling system on Ranker, McGregor is down in 17th – very much in the middle of the pack.
At the top of the list with the most votes is former lightweight champion Nurmagomedov, who retired from the UFC with an undefeated record last year after defeating Justin Gaethje.
Although the fluid ranking system is subject to change, light heavyweight legend Jon Jones is second in the list followed by Kamaru Usman, who wears the welterweight strap.
Former heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic is fourth in the list and middleweight belt-holder Israel Adesanya is fifth.
Adesanya defeated Italy Martin Vettori via decision to defend his title in the early hours of Sunday morning, while Britain's Leon Edwards beat Nate Diaz on the same card.
UFC heavyweight champion Francis N'gannou came sixth in the vote, closely followed by Poirier, former featherweight king Max Holloway and retired ex-two-division champion Daniel Cormier.

Also featuring higher than McGregor are Demetrious Johnson, Gaethje, Henry Cejudo, Robert Whittaker, Tony Ferguson, Petr Yan and Alexander Volkanovski.
The 'Notorious' is unlikely to be fazed by his lowly raking in the vote, however, as his attention is focussed on his training camp for his fight with Poirier at UFC 264.
"All the marbles are on the line. I'm here training very, very hard. I'm about to go for my second session of the day. I'm in great condition already," McGregor told Fox Sports.
"I beat him in the original bout [in 2014]. I lost in the rematch. And then we've got trilogy, I've got a few little adjustments to make.
"I feel very, very confident. I'm very focused and driven. And I'll go in there and put on one hell of a performance and get it back on July 10th."
Predicting how the fight will finish, McGregor added: "I'm gonna crack him with a jab and he's gonna wobble and I'm gonna put him away early. It is going to be a first-round KO, mark my words."
