Conor McGregor addresses "difficult" weight cut ahead of Dustin Poirier rematch
Conor McGregor has no doubt he will make the lightweight limit for his rematch with Dustin Poirier.
The Irishman has not fought at 155lb since he was choked out by Khabib Nurmagomedov in the fourth round of their fight in 2018.
The former two-weight champion avoided a tough weight cut against Donald Cerrone last year because the fight was held at welterweight.
But he is confident he will have no problem when he steps on the scale next Friday.
"I'm jacked and I'm shredded. I'm in a tremendous place, I've put the work in, making weight is difficult but difficult things are not so difficult when you commit yourself fully," McGregor told The MacLife.
"In actuality they become easy and thats where I am at, I've done this flawlessly alongside my team.
"All the work has been calculated, I have got my body into a lightweight frame once again.
"I am full of energy and my double training sessions have ceased, now it's just single sessions. The weight is on point and I'm very excited to get in there and showcase myself at 155lb."
McGregor has fought just twice as a lightweight in the UFC – beat Eddie Alvarez to win the title in 2016 before losing to Nurmagomedov two years later.
But ahead of his return at UFC 257, the Dubliner plans to remain in the promotion's toughest division.
“I would like to put a stint in at 155lb,” he added. “I came into the UFC as a featherweight and I went through the division.
"I gave it my all in that division and I tore through it like a chainsaw through butter. Then I went up and reached for greater heights, went to the lightweight division, became lightweight champion and became the first duel-weight champion in the company’s history.
"I never got a good stint at 155lb, a consecutive stint like I've done in the featherweight division. I would like to do the same here in the lightweight division that I’ve done in the featherweight division – give it a good run and tear through the division.
"There’s many good competitors, good fighters, in there, and I feel levels above them all. So I would like to put that stint in."
