He rarely ventures to the Riverina, so it pays to take notice when one of Clint Lundholm’s tougher gallopers heads south.
Dubbo-based and one of the leading strike-rate trainers in country NSW, Lundholm saddles up honest four-year-old mare Watch Me Rumble in the feature Open Hcp over 1400m at Monday’s Wagga Wagga meeting.

Lundholm is riding one of his better career runs, with five individual winners from his last 20 starters.
Yet, it’s not often you see the stable tackle an open affair in southern NSW, but Watch Me Rumble has always given the impression any task from just around the corner to right around the state is within her grasp.
This race on Battlers Cup day will give Lundholm a further pointer as to how far the mare can go, even though she’s been up for a long time.
In a wider betting affair, Watch Me Rumble opened up a $7.00 chance behind early $3.90 favourite and fellow four-year-old mare Easy Rosie.
Watch Me Rumble comes off a somewhat luckless late closing run in a BM 66 at Muswellbrook over 1280m where she covered ground under a big weight, but still ran home okay.
Prior to that, she was a little stiff again, finishing hard into a place against similar opposition in a provincial BM 66 on the Beaumont track at Newcastle. That said, time is starting to run a little thin.
The strongly built daughter of Stratum Star hasn’t won since a first-up blitz in a Country Championship Class 4 Preview at Bathurst nearly six months ago when she stormed home.
Now with two separate month-long freshen-ups and three weeks since her latest run, Watch Me Rumble finds a winnable race, and should be ideally suited down the long stretch home at Wagga.
She also gets a significant 5kg weight drop down to the limit of 55kg, with in-form Jean Van Overmeire taking over in the saddle.
