Victoria Derby winner Johnny Get Angry to resume in Aurie’s Star Handicap at Flemington
Victoria Derby winner Johnny Get Angry heads the 15 acceptors for Saturday’s Group 3 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m) at Flemington.
Johnny Get Angry hasn’t raced since breaking his maiden in the Victoria Derby at Flemington last October, which provided trainer Denis Pagan with a Group 1 win months after getting his licence.
The Melbourne Cup-bound stayer will carry 59kg against a smart field of sprinters led by the Danny O’Brien-trained duo Order Of Command and Banquo.
Lindsay Park trainers Ben and JD Hayes will run smart stallion Aysar for the first time since the four-year-old failed to see out the 1600m of the Australian Guineas in the autumn.
The Hayes brothers have secured last season’s premier jockey Jamie Kah to ride Aysar on Saturday. Aysar will jump from barrier 9.
Bletchingly Stakes placegetter The Astrologist will return to Flemington for the Aurie’s Star Handicap.
The Leon and Troy Corstens-trained sprinter won twice down the straight before his Caulfield effort.

Saab Hasan has accepted with Standish Handicap winner Sirius Suspect in the $200,000 contest.
Sirius Suspect has won three times and placed on another five occasions down the Flemington straight.
He finished two lengths from the winner in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap first-up last time in.
Damien Oliver will ride Sirius Suspect.
Sirius Suspect has drawn well in barrier 13 with outside runners to get every chance in the Aurie’s Star Handicap.
Early tips – Sirius Suspect (11), The Astrologist (5), Aysar (3), Regardsmaree (12).
The Flemington track was a rated a soft (6) at acceptance time with the rail out 10m for Saturday’s meeting.
