Raceday focus: Best Bets, analysis for the Bendigo program

Herald Sun form analyst Brad Waters runs the rule over Wednesday’s card at Bendigo.

BEST BET

SAFEEYA (Race 8 No. 11 – $3.50)

Safeeya is a talented filly making her return at Bendigo on Wednesday. She broke her maiden with a five-length romp first-up last time in and won a Cranbourne trial leading up this. She’ll be tough to beat in the last.

NEXT BEST

WYLD SAVANNA (Race 1 No. 7 – $1.90)

Wyld Savanna was solid at her first two runs back from a spell before she was outsprinted over 1200m at Ballarat. The step up to 1400m will be perfect for her and Wyld Savanna can break through.

COS I’M THE BOSS (Race 2 No. 3 – $2.80)

Cos I’m The Boss was sent back to the spelling paddock to mature after a solid debut effort at Geelong last August. She showed the benefit of that time in a strong Flemington jumpout and has a great chance to score a first-up win.

CURWOOD (Race 4 No. 9 – $9.50)

Curwood chased well from the back at Cranbourne second-up and stuck to his task at Ballarat last time. He looks suited by the step up to 2400m for this and blinkers go on. Expect him to be right in the thick of things.

VALUE BET

CHARM WING (Race 7 No. 14 – $15)

Charm Wing scored a deserved win at good odds at Ballarat last start but that effort was no fluke with her consistent form. Charm Wing has drawn awkwardly but rates a strong each-way chance at good odds.

JOCKEY TO FOLLOW

CRAIG WILLIAMS

Craig Williams will make the trip to Bendigo for four rides on Wednesday, including a couple of excellent chances so punters can expect him to be in the winner’s stall at some stage.

STAR OF MANHATTAN (Race 2 No. 8 – $4.60), SLEIPNIR (Race 3 No. 6 – $3.60), MISTER YU SHU (Race 7 No. 16 – $6.50), DIAQUIN (Race 8 No. 3 – $13).

THE WEEK AHEAD

Kilmore races during the day on Thursday before a Pakenham night meeting. Werribee hosts Friday’s day meeting before Cranbourne takes over on Friday night. Saturday racing will again be at Caulfield this week with the support meeting at Wangaratta. Flemington will hold its traditional Anzac Day meeting on Saturday with Moe as the provincial fixture.
