Race-by-race preview and tips for feature Monday meeting at Bathurst
Track improving to Good 4 and rail True
Race 1 – 1.55PM: MAIDEN PLATE (1400m)
Low grade maiden to start, and should be at the mercy of improving metro mare 5. Blue Jager third-up. Has worked home nicely in two provincial runs this prep, and looks very well in at the weights dropping to 57kg and drawn to get cover. Stable scratched her from Goulburn on Sunday to run in this.

Dangers: Another one from Warwick Farm, three-year-old 3. Divine Crescent has hit the line in two runs at this track and gets a soft run midfield on the inside. Gap to the rest headed by 7. Golden Chances who is hard fit; and at bigger odds 9. Queenmaker on debut with key gear additions.
How to play it: Blue Jager to win
Odds and Evens: Odds a special
Race 2 – 2.35PM: COLTS, GELDINGS & ENTIRES CLASS 1 HCP (1100m)
Canberra three-year-old 5. Loose Love can strike if he backs up on a three-day turnaround. The closing fresh effort at home on Friday was good in a race with more depth than this, and his only previous win came second-up.
Dangers: Lightly raced four-year-old 1. Circularity draws well first-up since spring behind two trials, but fresh record is poor; while 3. Dubbo Wanderer led all the way to break through at third start, although likely to need it softer.
How to play it: Loose Love to win and box exacta 1,3,5
Odds and Evens: Odds a special
Race 3 – 3.10PM : BENCHMARK 58 HCP (1400m)
Not much between a few of these headed by local mare 8. Kimmylee who can make it two straight after sweeping home to win a low-grade CL2. Parks a bit closer too from this draw.
Dangers: Tough five-year-old 1. Buzz ‘N’ Joe hit the line late at this track a fortnight ago and afforded a nice weight drop after the rider’s claim. Preferred here to Goulburn on Sunday. Including both last start maiden winner 4. Island Press fourth-up; and 6. Petain in trifectas and first fours.
How to play it: Kimmylee to win and quinella 1 and 8
Odds and Evens: Split
Race 4 – 3.50PM: FILLIES & MARES CLASS 1 HCP (1100m)
Promising metro filly 4. Shades Of Rose only has to get over from the wide gate to win again after a dominant display here two weeks back. Up sharply in weight, but has way more ability than these, and avoiding any sort of tough run is the only hurdle.
Dangers: Improving provincial mare 1. Princess Amira can run the quinella after a solid return at Wyong; while first-up maiden winner on the South Coast 6. Summer Of Promise draws to get a nice run on speed. The rest seemingly are going around for practice.
How to play it: Shades Of Rose to win and quinella 1 and 4
Odds and Evens: Split
Race 5 – 4.25PM: CLASS 1 & MAIDEN PLATE (1800m)
Progressive metro four-year-old 3. Rockover is bursting to win again after beating all but the winner in his last two. Dropping back 200m in distance is a plus, and there’s not much opposition here.
Dangers: Keep safe 4. Wunambal third-up from a soft draw. Another city visitor 6. Aurora Florentina swept home for a dominant maiden win third-up, and the extra trip comes at the right time. Tough six-year-old 2. Genghis Khan is hard fit and can hit back at fifth run this prep. Was overhauled late here in a BM 58, but the rider took off way too soon under the big weight and he was a sitting duck.
How to play it: Rockover to win
Odds and Evens: Split
Race 6 – 5.05PM: COUNTRY C’SHIP PREVIEW CLASS 4 HCP (1200m)
Feature race of the day stacks up nicely for promising three-year-old 2. Ang Pow who returns off two solid and forward trials. Launched his career last spring with two dominant country wins before unluckily going under here on a heavy and shifty surface. Draws inside, and can confirm his credentials as one of the leading Country C’ship contenders by winning this.
Dangers: Tough local five-year-old 1. The Drover only has to negotiate a somewhat tricky gate to run the quinella. Chased hard to win a CL3 at Cowra fourth-up, and has only missed a place five times in 15 starts. Included in exotics 5. A Fortunate Lass who was close-up in a provincial BM 64 three weeks ago.
How to play it: Ang Pow to win
Odds and Evens: Split
Race 7 – 5.40PM: MAIDEN HCP (1200m)
The most open race of the day is saved for last. The market will have a big say but like the way Sebring filly 5. Echo Sunshine has trialled up to 1050m for a leading metropolitan stable.
Dangers: Warwick farm-based filly 10. Surreel can improve second-up with blinkers added. Was scratched from Goulburn on Sunday to be saved for this. Emerging filly 6. Mrs Gloop was good late on debut at Canberra, but will again be forced a fair way back from the wide barrier. Keep safe local filly 11. Boongarra Girl second-up off a six-week break; while 2. So Good So Cool is the best of the rest.
How to play it: Echo Sunshine each way
Odds and Evens: Split
