Queenslander Michael Cahill has picked up the prized mount on Brooklyn Hustle in Saturday’s Tatt’s Tiara
Connections of Brooklyn Hustle are hoping for some local knowledge after locking in jockey Michael Cahill to ride the Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara fancy at Eagle Farm on Saturday.
With Jamie Kah originally booked in to ride the Group 2 Dane Ripper winner following Craig Williams’ decision to side with Stradbroke winner Tofane, trainers Jason Warren and Dean Krongold were forced to look elsewhere due to Queensland’s border closure to Victoria.
Despite Warren’s phone running hot following the news of Kah’s withdrawal at the end of last week, he sided with Cahill as he looks for certainty.
The Gold Coast-based hoop will also have the advantage of being able to ride Brooklyn Hustle on Tuesday morning to get a feel of what she has to offer.
“We went with some local knowledge,” Warren said. “We are very happy, he knows his way around there and the best thing is Michael can come and have a feel of her on Tuesday morning at trackwork, we will be set to go then.
“It makes a difference with her, we needed someone who is patient and has good hands so I think he is the man for the job.”
With Racing Queensland also closely monitoring the Covid-19 outbreak situation in New South Wales, Warren said he was keen to lock in a Brisbane-based hoop in case a snap decision came to close the border.

Sydney jockeys Tommy Berry, James McDonald, Rachel King, Josh Parr, Hugh Bowman and Nash Rawiller have all been booked for Group 1 rides on the day.
“We don’t know what is going to happen with the borders and with Sydney being a bit of a hot spot now, if (Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk) says she is going to close off, it will change the whole way it happens on Saturday,” Warren said.
“I would rather be organised now than booking someone from Sydney then having to scramble to find someone later in the week.”
Warren himself is currently stranded in Victoria and would be unable to make it to Eagle Farm on Saturday to watch the race if restrictions don’t change.
The stable is currently relying on a South Australian-based assistant who has been with the mare since she arrived in Queensland several weeks ago.
Rated a $9 chance by TAB.com.au, history is on Brooklyn Hustle’s side with five of the last seven Tatts Tiara winners coming out of the Dane Ripper a fortnight earlier.
Cahill last tasted Group 1 success in 2019 with The Bostonian, winning both the Doomben 10,000 and Kingsford-Smith Cup in the space of a fortnight.
Warren confirmed Brooklyn Hustle would likely race on next season despite her impressive resume which would make her an attractive broodmare commodity.
