Owners Cheveley Park Stud cut ties with trainer Gordon Elliott
BREAKING NEWS: First big owners desert trainer Gordon Elliott as they decide to move all horses in his care to other yards with Irishman banned from entering runners in British races, after shocking photo of him sitting on a dead horse
Owners Cheveley Park Stud have made the decision to move all their horses in Gordon Elliott’s care to other trainers.
The news comes after the Grand National-winning trainer was banned from having runners in Britain while Irish authorities investigate the shocking picture of the trainer sitting on a dead horse while talking on his mobile phone.
Cheveley Park Stud revealed on Tuesday afternoon that they will remove their horses from Elliott’s Cullentra Stables and move them to two different National Hunt trainers.

Hot favourite for the Marsh Novices’ Chase and the unbeaten Envoi Allen will move to the care of Henry de Bromhead.
Cheveley Park currently have eight horses trained by Elliott and they will join fellow Irish trainers De Bromhead and Willie Mullins.
Cheveley Park Stud’s Richard Thompson told Sky Sports Racing: ‘We’ve made a decision this morning to move the horses from Gordon’s yard.

‘We have eight horses (with Elliott), and they’ll go to Henry de Bromhead and Willie Mullins. That will be organised by Chris Richardson and the team. Logistics are in place, and we’re organising it right now.
‘Envoi Allen is going to Henry de Bromhead, Sir Gerhard will go to Willie and Quilixios will go to Henry.’
The British-based operation had initially indicated they would wait until the outcome of the IHRB investigation was complete before saying whether they will continue to have horses in his stable.
Trainer Elliott was temporarily banned from entering horses into British races and is being investigated by the British Horseracing Authority after a grotesque picture emerged of him posing astride a dead horse.
The dramatic move by the BHA throws a huge question mark over Elliott’s entries at the Cheltenham Festival, which starts two weeks today.
Envoi Allen is entered in the Grade One race on March 18 and the switch of trainers by Cheveley Park does not put his participation at the Festival in jeopardy.
The BHA described their decision as ‘proportionate in these circumstances’.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board has announced it will consider its investigation into Elliott on Friday.
Elliott has been ‘cooperating fully’ with the IHRB since a photograph of him sitting on a dead horse on his gallops was posted on Twitter on Saturday night.
On Tuesday afternoon, the IHRB published a new statement on its Twitter account, which read: ‘The Referrals Committee of the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board is scheduled to convene on Friday 5th March to hear evidence and consider an investigation relating to Mr. Gordon Elliott (Trainer).’
