Horses aren't the only thing getting a ride at Royal Ascot this week – and a survey has revealed almost one in five supporters have admitted to bonking at the famous event.

According to The Mirror in 2022, a survey by freebets.com revealed 17 per cent of them did the deed at Royal Ascot. Ascot is the favoured place for randy onlookers – with 12 per cent choosing the Cheltenham Festival as their place to get pleasurable.

Epsom Derby was next on 9 per cent, with Newcastle racecourse following behind with 7 per cent of horse racing romping in the north east. Yorkshire appears to be more restrained than the other courses – with York and Doncaster totalling 5 per cent and 3 per cent respectively.

The survey also suggested that people between the ages of 25 and 34 were most likely to slip off for a quickie.

The poll studied 2000 subjects, with Freebets adding: "Backing a winner and having a couple of drinks is a heady mix. Couples get carried away.”

Royal Ascot has a reputation for often descending into chaos, especially on Ladies' Day.

And punters flocked to the racecourse on Thursday for Ladies' day, with bright outfits and huge hats on full display. Despite the colourful dresses on display – racegoers have to adhere to a strict dress code.

Women's dresses and skirts should fall just about the knee or longer. While, strapless, off the shoulder, halter neck, sheer and spaghetti straps are not permitted. Visible midriffs are also not permitted.

However, the important factor of the outfit is the hat – and that must be worn if you were to attend the famous festival.
