Watch all the highlights from Grand National Day 2022 at Aintree
The mighty Constitution Hill will be the headline act on the the first day of the Grand National Festival at Aintree after his latest demolition job in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham last month. Punters are expected to flock to the venue in their droves over the course of this week’s event, which will culminate with the iconic showpiece race on Saturday afternoon.
Around 150,000 people are poised to attend Aintree Racecourse near Liverpool over the next three days, with plenty of action set to unfold as the racing begins on Thursday. Constitution Hill will undoubtedly be the star attraction and will be firmly expected to land the Aintree Hurdle when he tackles the two-and-a-half-mile distance for the very first time.
Meanwhile, the Alder Hey Aintree Bowl has also drawn an intriguing group of contenders on a day when the historic festival kicks off with four straight Grade One contests. Shishkin has been hailed as the early favourite despite being let down by his jumping at Cheltenham earlier this year, although Gold Cup runner-up Bravemansgame will not be running after being prevented from taking part by an intervention from the Financial Conduct Authority.
