Grand National LIVE – Aintree set for action-packed Ladies Day

Frankie Dettori announces retirement as horse racing legend confirms farewell plans

Day One of the Grand National Festival was certainly a roaring success, and Ladies’ Day promises to be just as exciting. Racegoers will be pulling out all the stops to catch the eye in the stands on one of the most fashionable days in the sport, though the true showstoppers are on the track.

Constitution Hill – as expected –added to his reputation of being one of the most exciting horses to grace National Hunt racing on Thursday. Nicky Henderson’s stable star hardly came out of first gear to cruise to victory in the Aintree Hurdle, in what could be his last race over the obstacles before turning to fences next season.

Banbridge, Zenta and Shishkin all also impressed on the Festival’s opening day, and there are several others waiting patiently for their chance to shine on day two.
